Had an interesting conversation with a neighbor the other day
She stopped by and mentioned she always sees me walking and wondered how I had all that energy considering my age. Then she asked if I thought she may be too old to change her ways so she could have that same oomph and energy and be able to join me on my almost daily excursions.
I wonder what would cause you to change the way you live in order to improve your health and well being and energy and oomph no matter what your age.
Remember you’re never too old to do that!
Maybe it would help to know that altering or changing your lifestyle may not be so scary or daunting after all. And I always talk about baby steps because obviously you cannot effect a change in your lifestyle all in one week or even in one month or possibly even more.
So for today, let’s concentrate on probably the worst offender in our health and energy – sugar!
And I say that because sugar has been proven to be more addictive than any other drug on the market. And it will certainly rob you of that health, oomph, and energy whether you realize that or not.
Here’s a fact that could actually aid you in avoiding all
that sugar. At the turn of the 19th century the average person
ate about 1 tablespoon of sugar per year; currently, the average
American ingests 25 pounds of this poison per year!
Don’t forget, sugar is included in not only desserts, but in
literally everything you eat unless you choose a healthier diet!
Here are some things to do when you’ve made up your mind to take that first step and get that urge to dig into some ice cream or those cookies
♥ Start a good book – one that really gets you into it
♥ Call a friend or relative
♥ Dance in your house, move around to some good music
♥ Walk outside – explore a new place
♥ Take a short nap (you may be tired so give in to it)
♥ See a good movie
♥ Eat a piece of fruit
♥ Watch an interesting documentary
♥ Get out of the kitchen
♥ Meet a friend for coffee (but pass on the pastries please!)
♥ Drink water every time you go into the kitchen – vitally important!
So please don’t wait until your energy level is low or a major health issue happens to make that decision to change your life – do it today. And know that even though the first few days can be difficult when you are avoiding all that sugar, you will get through it – and your body will love you for it. And think of all that good health, energy, and oomph you will gain (instead of pounds!)
I know that breaking up is hard to do – especially when you’re ditching the sugar. But remember the end result is, well, pretty sweet.
